| Rev Dr. Mathanaraj announced his retirement in Germany and to minister to the Sri Lankan community. This announcement was encouraged by JDCSI and the people of Sri Lanka. Bishop Daniel Thiagarajah said “In this Situation our community needs so many Rev Mathanarajs as soon as possible with his experience and spiritual knowledge.” |

| On 29.07.08 Rev Dr Mathanaraj has a farewell function to celebrate his retirement and he was honoured with the highest award of the Golden Crown Cross for the service he rendered to the Diakonie of the Lutheran Church in Bavaria. |

| We welcome Rev Dr. Mathanaraj to our Mother Church.Rev Dr. Mathanaraj has accepted the invitation of the JDCSI to be a missionary in the JDCSI. The ex-co of the JDCSI has requested him to reside in Colombo and to be the Director of Ecumenical Relations. He will also serve as Area Minister of Colombo. We are privileged that he has accepted the invitation to be a Missionary for the JDCSI. He will also serve as Area Minister of Colombo from September 2008. |
