Bishop’s visit to the second Sinhala Parish to Panadura
| It was on the 21st of June, the Bishop of JDCSI Rt. Rev. Dr Daniel Thiagarajah made his first visit to the 2nd Sinhala Parish of JDCSI, the Church of Christ the King, in Panadura. The Bishop was received by the congregation in a traditional way. Around sixty members were present for the day’s service which was also a special Holy Eucharist Worship.

| Bishop’s sermon, based on Romans 12: 1-2, moved the congregation to rededicate them for the cause of God’s Reign. They were called to join the ministerial team of JDCSI without any bias of caste, class, race or language. |

The Congregation, moved by the Spirit of the Lord, expressed their happiness to join such a denomination that serves the people of God without any prejudice. The first Sinhala edition of the Book of Prayer of the Church of South India, translated for the first time into Sinhala by the Rev. Srilal Karunaratne, the Priest of the Church, was officially released for use by the Bishop.

| The members were overjoyed to receive the blessing of the bishop one by one soon after the worship. Fellowship tea and lunch arranged after the service gave an opportunity for the people to get well acquainted with the Bishop. It was truly an experience of the presence of the Holy Spirit. |

| Rev. Srilal Karunaratne was among the members of JDCSI that visited the IDP Camps in Vavuniya and Cheddikulam recently. We are happy that he is whole heartedly involved in the diocesan effort to create a Nation consisting of mutual respect for one’s own identity, culture, language and tradition which will result in the recognition of pluriformity of the country that is unique for Asia |
